Justin Bieber’s MISSING WWE Summerslam Match! | WWE Backstage Expose

WWE and celebrities often go hand in hand,
and more often than not they end up in the Hall of Fame. While the company are often behind on current
trends, and really up on old trends like cross-dressing being funny, there was a point when WWE nearly
worked with one of the hottest musical acts in the world Justin Bieber. My name is “El Fakidor” Laurie Blake,
and this Justin Bieber’s missing Summerslam match. Just after WrestleMania 30 – where Daniel
Bryan won the WWE Championship – WWE were putting plans in place for John Cena at Summerslam
in August. One of the ideas presented connected to WrestleMania
24 celebrity Floyd Mayweather – who was friends with Canadian singer Justin Bieber. Former WWE writer Kevin Eck for Pressbox Online
saying, ““The feeling from the powers that be was that if Mayweather liked him,
then Bieber must be OK.” [QUOTE] Makes sense, Mayweather is a renowned
family man (onscreen: sarcasm) The proposed plan, according to Eck, was for
Beiber to team with John Cena and The Big Show to take on The Wyatt Family in a six-man
tag. However Eck threw up some concerns about Bieber
being involved. Not only had he been arrested twice, and was
seen in a leaked video using some language, he would not have been popular with the WWE
audience – which could have damaged John Cena. “My concern at the time was that Cena teaming
up with Bieber — who was making headlines for all the wrong reasons and most definitely
would have been booed unmercifully by the WWE audience — would not have done Cena,
the face of the company, any favors.” [QUOTE] Then again neither do jean shorts
and that doesn’t stop ‘em. To address this concern, creative wanted to
move any negative heat away from Cena and instead put it on Big Show. “The creative suggestion was that Cena would
become increasingly annoyed by Bieber in the weeks leading up to the match, but Big Show,
who would be portrayed as Bieber’s friend, would repeatedly play peacemaker.” [QUOTE] Eck reveals that the plan, of course, was
for Bieber, Cena and Show to win the match – with Justin getting the pin over a member
of the Wyatt Family, not the worst burial the Wyatt’s have suffered. But as a way to finally separate Cena from
Bieber and make sure the WWE fans know that they are not friends, Big Match John would
send the crowd home happy. “After the babyfaces went over in the match,
Bieber would be so obnoxious in trying to take credit for the win that Cena would hit
the Attitude Adjustment on him for a big pop.” [QUOTE] If that isn’t writing yourself out
of a hole of your own devising then I don’t know what is. In the end WWE decided against the match,
feeling that working with someone like Bieber could make for bad PR. Eck also explains, “a deal with Bieber never
came to fruition. I’m not sure how close it was to actually
happening.” [QUOTE] Another change came when Daniel Bryan had
to relinquish the WWE Championship due to concussions, which John Cena won at Money
in the Bank 2014. Cena then essentially took Bryan’s role
in Summerslam – where he would be thrown around the ring a lot by Brock Lesnar who would then
win the title. And that’s me making you listen to a whole
thing about Justin Bieber. Ah well, it’s too late now to say sorry. We’ve got other WWE Backstage Expose videos
