WWE News Round-Up: Cody & Bucks Starting AEW Promotion? Braun Injury, Cena Returning & Starrcade!

Alright guys, welcome back to this week in wrestling where we run down all the top stories from the past week, starting out with the news that the Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes could be set to launch their own wrestling promotion… If you’ve been following the Being The Elite series on YouTube then you’ll know that there have been a lot of teases in regards to the Elite members and what they’ll be doing on January 1st when their contracts expire, with a lot of those teases hinting at WWE. Now tho, thanks to a new trademark application filed in Jacksonville, Florida, it appears as tho the group may be planning to set up their own That’s because a series of trademarks were filled this week for names such as All Elite Wrestling, AEW, AEW Double or Nothing and AEW All out, all hinting at potential names and show names for the rumoured promotion. As for how the group will fund the promotion, SeScoops.com are reporting that they are working with the Kahn family who own the NFL side the Jacksonville Jaguars, as well as English Premier League side Fulham. Also adding credibility to the story, its noted that the trademark fillings all include the TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville as the listed address, which is also the address used for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Additionally, Jim Ross was also noted as someone who was set to be involved with the creation of the promotion, however Ross has since denied this, although reports suggest he has been approached to work with the promotion on-air, which is one of the reasons behind Ross turning down the chance to renew his WWE contract when it expires later this year. Moving on and following the attack on Braun Strowman from baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre this week on RAW, WWE have announced that Strowman will no longer be able to compete in the Mixed match Challenge as he’s due to undergo elbow surgery. Whilst WWE’s report is partly kayfabe following the attack, there is truth to the news, as Strowman has been suffering from a recurring problem with his elbow and is indeed undergoing surgery, meaning his upcoming match with Corbin at TLC could be in jeopardy. Going back to the Mixed Match Challenge, Braun’s replacement is actually the second for his team, as his original partner Alexa Bliss was previosuly replaced by Ember Moon after she too suffered an injury, however as of yet there is no news on who will take Braun’s place. One thing we do know however is the brackets for the finals, as WWE this week announced who will be facing who in the tournament finals, with:

Ember Moon and her to be announced partner going up against Jinder mahal and Alicai Fox Finn Balor and Bayley taking on Bobby Lashley and Mickie James. Jeff Hardy and Charlotte vs R-Truth and Carmella and and The Miz and Asuka versus Jimmy Uso and Naomi. Following the conclusion of these matches and the semi-finals, then the final itself is set to take place at December’s TLC pay-per-view, where the winners will earn the right to enter their respectice royal rumble matches in the coveted number 30 spot. Moving on and we’re talking big match John, as WWE have announced several upcoming dates for John Cena, which begin at Madison Square Garden on December 26th where he’ll team up with Finn Balor to take on Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. In total Cena has been announced for 13 dates up till Januray 14th, with the majority fo those dates being live events, however Cena is set to return to TV for the January 7th eisode of RAW in Orlando.

Finally, this coming Staurday sees WWE hold thier second WWE Starrcade live event at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio, with the company also set to air a 1 hour special the following night on the WWE Network.

  1. Here we go with the latest episode of This Week in Wrestling as we run down this weeks top stories, including news that Cody and the Young Bucks may be in the process of setting up their own promotion, the latest on Braun Strowman's elbow injury, Mixed Match Challenge Tournament brackets, John Cena's return dates and this weekend's WWE Starrcade show! 😃

  2. I think that Braun strowman time off is due for his knees both his knees are shot and I think that he needs surgery on them and I think they using this as an elbow injury to take away from his knees so not a lot of people could speculate how long he's going to be out

  3. NOTE:THIS IS IMO. You know how in wwe2k19 you can pull down your straps? I don't like Brock but wouldn't it be cool if you could take off your gloves because he's done it quite a few times

  4. To everyone thinks that the bucks and Cody are starting or even think they are starting a promotion are fools and idiots they are not if so where are the TV deals where is the network or Internet deals this this just a event nothing more
